Step design

At The Shoemaker Guild, we design our steps to provide optimal content for people with a variety of experience levels.
This is a guidepost to help learners
steadily build up their skills without losing sight of their current position.
Without suddenly trying to tackle a difficult manufacturing process and becoming frustrated,

From the "Beginner" level that solidifies the basics to the "Meister" level that tests the philosophy of a craftsman.
Like climbing a staircase one step at a time
,

You will develop confidence and technique.

1
Beginner / 初級
In the beginner's course, you will learn the basics of leather craft, which is the foundation of shoemaking. This curriculum teaches you the basic processes of leather cutting, hand sewing, and finishing by making three types of small items. Even beginners can steadily acquire skills by learning step by step how to use the tools.

Once you have completed the three specified items and submitted the images, you will be promoted to the "Intermediate" level. Start by having fun and take your first step towards professional shoemaking.
2
Intermediate / 中級
In the intermediate level, you will finally try your hand at making real shoes.
The core curriculum is plain-toe derby shoes made using the traditional "hand-sewn welted" method. Applying the basics learned in the beginner's course, students will gain an in-depth understanding of shoe construction, from fitting the shoes onto a wooden last to welting, which is sewn by hand, one stitch at a time.
Although it takes time and effort, this course is packed with the joy of shoemaking, allowing you to experience the joy of creating the perfect pair of shoes that fit your feet perfectly, along with skills that will last you a lifetime.
3
Advanced / 上級
In the advanced level, you will build on the techniques you learned in the intermediate level and aim for even greater heights.
The main themes are "freedom of design" and "deepening of structure." From creating patterns to create your own unique designs, to complex sole attachment methods such as the Norwegian method, and even beveled waists that narrow the waist to the utmost, we are challenging ourselves to create sophisticated designs on a par with bespoke shoes.
This is the highest level course, where you will not only make shoes, but also pay close attention to the adjustment of wooden lasts to fit the shape of the foot and the selection of materials, and will reach the pinnacle of expressiveness and precision of a craftsman.
4
Meister
The Meister course is the highest level of education, going beyond the acquisition of technical skills to aim for independence as a shoemaker and artist.
Utilizing all the techniques we have cultivated to date, we provide a total production service, from carving wooden lasts that fit each individual foot perfectly to designs that require millimeter-level precision.
This title recognizes those who combine technique, knowledge, and philosophy to create true masterpieces that embody the brand with their own hands.
